That make them invest their time on non productive activities, prisons should take away those benefits and impose prisoners to get education and vocational skills. In conclusion, what Rideau means is that the current format of prisons does not work. There is an increased population in prisons, but not a decrease in crime. Prison is a place for punishment, but you cannot punish someone for lifetime. That is why prison should serve as well as rehabilitation center.
